Why I Resigned as an USA Pickleball Ambassador

As of today (8/04/21), I am no longer an USA Pickleball Ambassador. (I loved being a USA Pickleball Ambassador.) Why? I received a call from a director of the Florida USA ambassadors last night, and he informed me that USA Pickleball Org had received a communication from a fellow player in Sarasota complaining that they were not being treated fairly by Pickleball Terry. I thought the complaints were rather silly…she drops people off her email listshe won’t post our pictures…things of that sort. First of all, my weekly emails have nothing to do with the USA Pickleball Org, but I agree that an ambassador should keep things separate. For example, don’t mix being a paddle dealer with I’m a USA Pickleball Ambassador. USA Pickleball has a strict rule about that. Now I know.

So that there is no more confusion, and so that I am able to carry on without worrying that someone is going to go over my head and complain to my “boss,” I decided to leave on a high note. That way I won’t be responsible for doing anything wrong in conjunction with  USA Pickleball. (Being an ambassador is a volunteer position.)

USA Pickleball Organization is a great resource, and I recommend all pickleball players to become a member. Their website is full of wonderful information, and I enjoyed my time as an USA Pickleball Ambassador, but it’s time to move on.  Maybe that guy who complained about me would like to pick up the torch and become an ambassador? No hard feelings. People have to do what they have to do.

My new title is (Self-appointed) Sarasota Pickleball Representative.

  1. Terry, I applaud all the wonderful ways you have brought so many people into Pickleball, no matter the level of play you always steered us in the right direction…

I thank you for all the volunteer hours you put in as Ambassador. Sorry someone has been so unkind. We couldn’t have had a better, harder working Ambassador.
Looking forward to spending time with you when I return.

  3. I’m sorry to read this Terry. I guess you can’t please everyone. I played on LBK this spring in Sarasota, and I have nothing but things to say about the park we played at and all the wonderful folks we met. Keep in keeping on and spread the word about the wonderful game.

  4. I love Terry Ryan she was a fabulous ambassador and did a great job Sarasota will surely miss a good ambassador such as Terry I feel bad that silly complaints caused this to happen.
I agree with her that the complainer should take over her position and do a better job than Terry did for our community thanks brother.

  5. Terry,
    You rock!

Never let another steal your Thunder!

You ARE a pickleball ambassador for many of us and keep up your spirit towards the game.

  6. Just because you resign a title, doesn’t mean you are no longer an ambassador. You are the example of what a Pickleball Ambassador does. You promote and attempt to grow the game in Sarasota. Kudos to you.

  7. Hi Terry this is Jane the woman who danced besides you at Southgate line dancing. You have done such a good job and all your information and humor is so appreciated. It’s so hard to do a good deed nowadays isn’t it ? Everybody’s a critic. I hope this doesn’t mean you won’t be sending these emails out anymore ???? Hope to run into you one of these days at one of the Sarasota venues…..

  8. Terry, thanks for all you have done, do, and will do for Sarasota pickleball. “We don’t need no sticking ambassadors “ we have something better….YOU!

  9. Terry,
YOU are the friendly, welcoming, encouraging, “let’s have a great, fun time playing pickleball” person of Sarasota. Pickleball has grown so well in Sarasota largely because of your ready welcome to all newbies.
When we drive by the courts, we always look for you . There are lots of great people in Sarasota pickleball but you are the face and voice of it.
